This is our collection of Studies that look at the history of individual houses within the village both in terms of the families that have occupied them, as shown to us in the censuses (issued once every ten years),and in terms of what changes to the fabric that we have been able to discern from the series of dated maps that are generally available to us. Our extensive archive of photographs have also been helpful in providing illustration.
We have often been much assisted by the current owners of the houses who have lent us whatever deeds and documents remain in situ, and in these cases we have been able to build a much more complete picture of ownership over the varied periods covered by the individual collections of deeds.
It cannot be said that these studies are comprehensive in their scope, but they do represent an honest attempt to draw together whatever information we have been able to gather and to present the result in an easy to read sequential format.
