Are you driving to Bristol and back via the M48 today?  There is no longer a toll.

Check before you set off to see if the Severn Bridge is open or closed.

Near real time Tide heights at Avonmouth

Gloucester Harbour Trustees have an excellent web site filled important advice and information about the Severn

including safety and regulations.  Under the section titled “Shipping and Weather” you can see the exact height of the water at

Sharpness in real time – so you will know if the water level will be higher or lower than predicted an hour later at Newnham.

Jolly useful for those who want to go paddling in the river. Please don’t go into the water unless you know the time of the next

tide and have sought experienced local advice.  For planning ahead get yourself a copy of Arrowsmith’s Bristol Channel Tide Tables – available

from Newnham Post Office.
